A Party We Just Can't Leave

I failed some college courses. I had a habit of staying up way too late with friends and I couldn’t roll out of bed for early morning classes. 

Yep. I’d be fully committed to a reasonable bedtime but then someone would pitch the idea of late-night pizza or trips or chats or games. Off I went, like a millennial to a tattoo shop, caution thrown to the wind.

And once I was at the party, it was difficult to leave.

Good leaders focus often on what their organization or church needs to start doing. Great leaders have the courage to stop the unnecessary.

Deletions are as important as additions. Your organization, your team, your church, or YOU need to leave something behind. What is it?

For your organization, it might be an out-of-touch or tone-deaf practice or inefficiency. If you had to, what one thing could your organization leave behind? (Go ahead, think about it for a moment.)

For your team, it might be previously held silos, thickly drawn lines, or lack of accountability. If you had to, what one thing could your team leave behind?

For your church, it might be a methodology or model (one that likely achieved “sacred” status but no longer works). If you had to, what one thing could your church leave behind?

For you, it might be the license you give to others to run your life or the excuse you keep repeating. If you had to, what one thing could YOU leave behind?

What party are you enjoying too much to leave?

We all like a good party but we have to say goodnight. Tomorrow’s opportunities require it.
